SUUM Studio is a creative design and digital arts studio specialising in immersive, 3D and real-time craft. We merge art, design and technology to create meaningful digital experiences that connect people, ideas and spaces.

The studio is co-founded by Creative Director Pauline McCloy-Turtle, whose practice spans immersive environments, spatial storytelling and experience-led design, and Technical Director Charles Turtle, whose expertise lies in real-time systems, interactive 3D worlds and scalable immersive production.

Together, they combine cultural insight, creative direction and deep technical fluency to support projects at moments of uncertainty — where ideas are still forming, technologies are evolving and new formats need to be shaped with care. Their work is underpinned by real-time pipelines, Unreal Engine workflows and audio-led immersive design.

SUUM was formed to work in the spaces where ideas are still taking shape. We are often brought in at early or transitional stages of projects, helping artists, organisations and partners explore what is possible, clarify intent and shape work that can move confidently into production or public life.

Working collaboratively with a trusted network of composers, designers, software architects and digital artists, SUUM produces immersive content and creative assets for business, media and cultural organisations. Since incorporating in 2018, the studio has been a three-time Scottish Design Awards finalist, a UKRI Creative Catalyst Fund recipient (2024), and part of the inaugural CoSTAR Network Ideate Residency cohort (2025).

At the heart of SUUM’s practice is the fusion of digital art, immersive design and real-time technology. We create generative artworks, interactive animation and bespoke soundscapes, alongside supporting clients with brand design, digital assets and websites that communicate ideas clearly and creatively. Our ongoing R&D extends into interactive app development for gaming and immersive markets, enabling the studio to develop and license its own IP.

Our mission is to explore how technology can deepen human connection and expand creative possibility, while building sustainable, future-facing creative practice. We value experimentation, care and long-term impact, and design work that is as thoughtful as it is technically accomplished.

Our work is supported by Creative Scotland, Scottish Enterprise, Innovate UK, AHRC, Techscaler and the CoSTAR Network, across arts, culture and innovation. SUUM also contributes to wider innovation and industry dialogue through networks including Label Sessions and Innovate UK’s Immersive Tech Network.
