Bringing Glasgow’s Architectural Heritage to Life Through 3D Visualisation

Our City Chambers

Client: Glasgow City Heritage Trust
Work Type: 3D Modelling & Animation, Art Direction, Technical Direction, Software Development & Web Design

Scottish Design Award Finalist Project 2024 in Interface Design - Incorporating: website, mobile and app design

SUUM Studio created a fully interactive 3D digital resource that allows users to explore Glasgow City Chambers—one of the city's most celebrated municipal buildings—through a meticulously crafted digital experience. Designed as an educational outreach tool, this project demystifies heritage design and social history, making it engaging and accessible to young learners.

Working from historical research, photographic surveys, and material studies, we developed high-detail 3D models of the interiors, sculptures, lighting, and furnishings, showcasing the craftsmanship of Glasgow’s Victorian Golden Age. The experience unfolds through scroll-triggered animations, revealing the symbolism, materials, and techniques used in the building’s design.

The digital experience is complemented by an animated instructional guide, featuring a motion-captured 3D character with voiceover narration. The accompanying print resource, distributed to 7,000 school children, reinforces the learning experience and remains available for download.

Built as part of Glasgow City Heritage Trust’s educational outreach, this project blends technology, design, and storytelling to foster a deeper appreciation for architecture, civic history, and craftsmanship.
